What is Chemical Tank Container Cleaning?

As TGL Tet Global Logistics, we provide chemical tanker cleaning services in collaboration with Dilmak Tanker to ensure the hygienic transportation of raw materials used in everyday products, such as lubricants and additives, chemicals used in the paint industry, fatty acids, oil esters, raw materials and chemicals used in the cleaning industry, construction chemicals, binders and resins, latex, monomers, and acrylates. Our operations are carried out in compliance with the SQAS sustainable safety and quality standards set by the European Chemical Industry Council at the Dilmak Chemical Tanker Cleaning and Treatment Facility.

Established in 2004, the Dilmak Chemical Tanker Cleaning and Treatment Facility ensures the sterilization of tankers and containers carrying chemicals, providing the hygienic environment necessary for the transportation of chemical substances. The facility is ISO 9001 certified and holds the European Cleaning Document (ECD) and Turkish Cleaning Certificate (KTTD), offering services at European standards.

At the facility, which has the capacity to wash 6 vehicles simultaneously and treat 20,000 tons per day, the internal and external cleaning of tankers and containers carrying chemicals is carried out by expert staff.

For chemical tanker cleaning, we use the “Steam Impact Technology” developed by Butterworth for sterilizing the internal compartments of tankers and containers. This technology allows us to maximize efficiency by using less water, energy, and cleaning chemicals during the cleaning and treatment operations. The cleaning process is tailored to the type of vehicle and product being transported, and the desired temperature is applied. In our Chemical Tank Container Cleaning operations, we use automated systems and expert personnel to provide services with minimal energy consumption and maximum efficiency.

To prevent the environmental risks posed by chemical waste generated during the cleaning and treatment of chemical tankers, we provide eco-friendly services in compliance with the standards set by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Forestry. In doing so, we contribute to environmental sustainability and the preservation of natural resources for a healthy future.

SQAS is a program that evaluates the performance of road transport, intermediary, and intermodal logistics companies in terms of quality, safety, health, security, environmental, and corporate social responsibility standards. The European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) ensures regular inspections of logistics companies through SQAS, aiming to maintain the quality of services within the industry. In this respect, SQAS is recognized as an important evaluation criterion in the chemical logistics sector.

The following products are not washed at our facility: Class 6 materials, ACN (Acrylonitrile), TDI (Toluene Diisocyanate).

What is chemical tanker cleaning?

The process of cleaning vehicles used specifically for the storage and transportation of fuel and food products is known as chemical tanker cleaning. Since the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) properties of chemical products vary, the chemical tanker cleaning process may need to be carried out in different ways. However, regardless of the type of chemical product, chemical tanker cleaning procedures must always be performed by experienced and trained specialists, in accordance with predetermined standards. Following this entire process, drying and sealing operations may be carried out based on customer-specific requests.

Why is chemical tanker cleaning necessary?

Chemicals stored in tanks can adhere to the containers, causing potential issues. To prevent such problems, detailed chemical tanker cleaning processes are necessary. Furthermore, these cleaning procedures, which must be performed with meticulous care, should always be carried out by professionals. This ensures that residues at the bottom of the tank are cleaned, tanks can enter the repair process in a healthy manner, residues from previously stored or transported loads are removed, and the tank is prepared to receive new cargo once the previous chemical has been emptied.

How is chemical tanker cleaning done?

Chemical tanker cleaning can be carried out using different methods depending on the characteristics of the cargo previously transported by the tanker. Applying the wrong method can risk rendering the tank unusable. In cases where the product being transported changes, mandatory cleaning procedures may involve various types of equipment. These tools help ensure that the tanker is thoroughly cleaned of chemical residues. The waste materials produced are treated at purification facilities, and once the tank is completely free of chemicals, it becomes ready to handle new cargo. This process prevents any interaction between the new load and residues from the previous one.

How much does a chemical tanker cleaning cost?

The cost of chemical tanker cleaning can vary depending on several factors. These include the scope of the cleaning process, the size of the tanker to be cleaned, the characteristics of the chemical substance that needs to be removed, the specifications of the equipment required, and many other factors. Therefore, instead of obtaining a standard price for chemical tanker cleaning, it is more accurate and beneficial to assess the specific requirements and characteristics of the required cleaning process to determine the cost.

How to make chemical tanker cleaning safe?

Chemical tanker cleaning is critical in industries related to the storage and transportation of hazardous materials. It ensures the removal of residues inside the tanker and contaminants on its exterior, making it an indispensable step for both human health and environmental safety. For the cleaning process to be completed safely, chemical tanker cleaning must be performed by experienced professionals, using the correct equipment and adhering to necessary safety precautions. This approach ensures that high international standards are maintained in chemical tanker cleaning operations.
