Environmental Responsibility
We act with the responsibility of leaving a more livable world for future generations. In this regard, we are aware that a business model focused solely on profit-oriented economic growth is not sustainable. We advocate for healthy and sustainable growth through the efficient use of limited and finite natural resources and environmentally and humanly respectful working models. The rapid increase in events such as extreme rainfall, flooding, drought, and forest fires due to climate change in our country and around the world highlights the urgent need for a business approach based on sustainability principles. We prefer sustainable practices at every stage of our management processes while fulfilling our environmental responsibilities.
For every baby born to our employees, we donate 10 saplings. Since 2022, we have donated 210 saplings. By 2025, we plan to implement the TGL Memorial Forest project, aiming to create a large forest in this context.
In our driver training programs, we provide information about the fire hazards on forested roads along our transport routes and explain the actions that can be taken to protect forests. As TET Global Logistics, in the event of large-scale forest fires, we deploy our tankers and drivers to transport water to fire-affected areas with a national mobilization approach. During the summer of 2023, we actively supported firefighting efforts in all forest fires in the Aegean Region with numerous vehicles and continue to offer support in potential emergencies.
To minimize our carbon footprint, we use innovative technologies and develop solutions to increase energy efficiency. To reduce environmental impacts, we prefer electric hybrid technology in the passenger vehicles acquired by our company. In our core business of transportation, we have transitioned to Euro6 engine technology, which provides 94% lower carbon emissions and fuel savings in the trucks, trailers, and 40-foot containers used, working towards sustainability in every area.
Additionally, we contribute to our sustainability goals through the use of tires (Prometeon) that support sustainability, are produced with lower carbon emissions, and provide fuel savings in all vehicles in our fleet.
As a result, compared to 2022-2023, we reduced the average fuel consumption in our transportation fleet by 8%. Despite a 26.13% increase in the total distance traveled by our fleet, we kept our total carbon emissions limited to 18.16%. Thanks to increasing energy efficiency and prioritizing low-emission transportation methods in our transport network, we achieved a decrease in carbon emission rates despite significant growth in road construction.
We maintain constant close contact with vehicle and tire manufacturers to incorporate any innovations that could reduce our carbon footprint in vehicle and tire technology.
By 2025, we aim to start using renewable clean energy (solar energy) sources in our warehouses and facilities, with the goal of meeting a portion of our energy consumption from sustainable sources.
In tanker transportation, we plan our operational preferences to reduce the amount of water used in tanker cleaning processes. Additionally, by replacing cleaning heads (Butter Worth) with new technology heads in the cleaning facility, we reduced the average water consumption per wash from 0.66 tons to 0.48 tons between 2022-2023, achieving a 28.07% reduction in total and decreasing our water footprint.
We implement zero waste management policies to reduce waste production and promote recycling in all our activities.
Since the amount of water used in cleaning activities has decreased, we also achieve a proportional reduction in the wastewater discharged from the treatment facility.
We collaborate with universities and academics for process and facility design to ensure that the treated wastewater can be reused as cleaning water and to minimize the water footprint completely.
