Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chemical Substance Transportation?

The European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) defines dangerous goods as “substances that, due to their natural properties or the conditions during transport, pose a risk to general safety and order, particularly endangering the health and lives of people, animals, and other living beings.”

At TGL Tet Global Logistics, we provide high-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transportation for dangerous goods across Turkey and Europe, adhering to ADR standards. Our logistics operations are conducted in accordance with the SQAS sustainability, safety, and quality standards set by the European Chemical Industry Council.

With a fleet of over 300 vehicles capable of transporting an average of 10,000 tons of liquid chemicals daily, we offer transportation solutions throughout Turkey, Europe, and globally for container shipping. Our ADR-certified L4BH type road tankers and Eurotainer containers, made from 316 L stainless steel, are designed to be temperature-controlled and resistant to wear, making them suitable for transporting dangerous goods.

Our insulated road tankers, equipped with compressors and pumps, are capable of transporting up to six different chemicals in a single trip, with capacities ranging from 15,000 to 25,000 tons. Tank containers offer a loading capacity between 20,000 and 33,500 liters. All ADR-certified road tankers and containers operate to European standards.

Our vehicles are equipped with mobile communication systems, allowing customers to track the entire logistics process in real time. Our team of experts and experienced drivers, holding SRC 5 Dangerous Goods Transport Driver Licenses, ensure compliance with the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System standards set by the British Standards Institution.

Dangerous Goods Transportation in accordance with SQAS Standards in accordance with ADR Transport Legislation

In our logistics operations conducted within the framework of ADR Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations, we comprehensively protect the chemical substances we transport against all possible damages and losses. In addition to the comprehensive insurance against traffic and theft-related financial losses, we also have a Damage Excess Agreement that increases the voluntary financial liability of the insurance. Furthermore, we aim to compensate for possible damages and losses to the transported product through Transport Insurance.

We carry out our logistics activities in accordance with the laws set by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Forestry and ADR Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations. By using EURO5 and EURO6 engine technology in our vehicles, we contribute to environmental sustainability and the protection of natural resources for a healthy future.

The European Agreement (ADR), which came into force in 1968 by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, includes technical regulations such as the packaging and labeling of hazardous chemicals transported by road, materials required for the construction of vehicles carrying hazardous substances, and the operational scope of these vehicles. The agreement aims to ensure the safe transportation of hazardous chemicals while protecting environmental health and safety. In this regard, it is crucial for companies engaged in hazardous materials transportation to conduct their operations in accordance with ADR rules.

SQAS Road Transport is a program that sets performance standards for quality, safety, health, security, environmental, and corporate social responsibility for companies involved in road transport, brokerage, and intermodal transport services. The European Chemical Industry Council uses SQAS to regularly inspect logistics companies and aims to maintain service quality within the industry. In this regard, SQAS is recognized as an important assessment program in the chemical logistics sector.

Our transportation-related services include International Chemical Transportation.

What is hazardous material transportation?

The transportation of products and raw materials containing chemicals and possessing flammable properties is referred to as hazardous materials transportation. The process of transporting hazardous materials requires the highest level of safety precautions. Additionally, the hazardous materials transportation process must be carried out using the correct vehicles and methods. Only in this way can an effective and efficient process be ensured. Maximizing the safety levels of the vehicles used, starting with driver safety, ensures that the transportation service is performed in the most comfortable and healthy manner.

What is hazardous material ADR?

ADR, also known as the “European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road,” is an international regulation that ensures the safe and orderly transportation of hazardous materials by public road without harming human health or the environment. Transportation of hazardous materials in different ADR hazard classes can only be conducted by carriers with an ADR certificate. ADR covers all types of public and private organizations involved in international transportation of goods, according to the European Agreement and the regulation published in the Official Gazette. Therefore, vehicle owners involved in the transportation of hazardous and/or explosive materials by tank must obtain an ADR Vehicle Compliance Certificate.

What should be considered when transporting hazardous materials?

Hazardous materials must be carefully packaged to prevent them from escaping the container in the event of a spill, contamination, or leakage. During the transportation of hazardous materials, specific standards related to factors such as moisture, temperature, and pressure must be maintained according to the material being transported. Personal protective equipment suitable for the class of hazardous material being transported must be present and complete in the vehicle. Transportation must be carried out using vehicles with appropriate features and by drivers with the necessary qualifications.

What is transported under ADR?

Explosive substances and objects, gases, flammable liquids, flammable solids, polymerizing substances, self-reactive substances, reduced-sensitivity explosives, spontaneously combustible substances, substances that release flammable gases upon contact with water, oxidizing substances, organic peroxides, toxic substances, infectious substances, corrosive substances, radioactive materials, and various other hazardous substances and objects are transported under ADR. Under the ADR agreement, four types of certificates are issued: design type approval certificate, production and production site conformity certificate, ADR vehicle compliance certificate, and inspection certificate.

How many classes are there for the transportation of hazardous materials?

Hazardous materials transported under hazardous materials transportation are classified into 9 different groups based on their danger and risk conditions. This classification is made by the United Nations Experts Committee. Each of these groups has its own subgroups. Each of these subgroups includes solid, liquid, and gaseous substances that pose a risk of harm to people, property, organisms, or the environment. These include materials with radioactive, explosive, corrosive, flammable, and asphyxiating properties.
