Frequently Asked Questions

What is Food Transportation?

We ensure the high-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly distribution of liquid food products such as vinegar and hazelnut puree across the global network. In food logistics, temperature control is a crucial part of the logistics process. At TET Global Logistics, we use temperature-controlled “Food Grade” ISO tank containers to transport food chemicals without degradation. Additionally, we provide integrated food product logistics and chemical tanker cleaning services by performing washing and purification procedures at temperatures suitable for the type of product being transported.

Our food product logistics activities, conducted between all locations in Turkey and Europe, adhere to the SQAS* sustainability, safety, and quality standards established by the European Chemical Industry Council.

With a fleet of over 300 vehicles and an average daily capacity of 10,000 tons for liquid chemicals, we offer food logistics services across Turkey and Europe, and globally for container transportation. Our temperature-controlled “Food Grade” ISO containers, made entirely of 316 L stainless steel chrome, are specially developed for food product logistics.

Our insulated road tankers, equipped with compressors and pumps, consist of three to five compartments and can transport up to six different chemical substances at once. The tankers are geared, lobed, and electric, with a loading capacity between 15,000 and 25,000 tons. Tank containers offer a loading capacity ranging from 20,000 to 33,500 liters.

With our fully equipped mobile communication systems, we provide our customers with the ability to track all stages of food logistics directly. We conduct our work in health and safety management in accordance with the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System criteria set by the British Standards Institution, with a team of experts and experienced drivers holding the SRC 5 Dangerous Goods Transport Driver Certificate.

In our logistics activities carried out under the ADR Dangerous Goods Transport Regulation, we ensure comprehensive protection for the chemicals we transport against all potential damage and loss. In addition to comprehensive insurance against traffic and theft-related material losses, we also sign a Damage Excess Contract to increase the voluntary liability of the insurance. We aim to compensate for any potential damage and losses to the transported products through Transport Insurance.

We conduct our logistics activities in compliance with the laws set by the Ministry of Environment and Forests of Turkey and the ADR Dangerous Goods Transport Regulation. By using EURO5 and EURO6 engine technology in our vehicles, we contribute to environmental sustainability and the protection of natural resources for a healthier future.

The European Agreement (ADR), introduced by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in 1968, includes technical regulations for the packaging and labeling of dangerous chemicals transported by road, as well as the materials and operational scope required for vehicles carrying dangerous goods. The agreement aims to ensure the transportation of hazardous chemicals while protecting environmental health and safety. Therefore, it is important for companies engaged in hazardous material transportation to conduct their operations in accordance with ADR rules.

SQAS is a program that determines the performance of road transport, brokerage, and intermodal transport service companies based on quality, safety, health, security, environmental, and corporate social responsibility standards. The European Chemical Industry Council uses SQAS to ensure regular audits of logistics companies and aims to maintain service quality in the industry. As such, SQAS is considered an important evaluation program in the chemical logistics sector.

What is Food Product Transportation?

Food product transportation, or food logistics, is a service that must be provided by transport companies with specialized equipment and expert personnel. This service is essential for the delivery of various products, such as dry food, canned goods, and beverages, from one location to another under appropriate temperatures and storage conditions. Since the cargo being transported is food, it is crucial to maintain not only the proper temperature but also hygiene standards. Key considerations include preventing the crushing of food items, ensuring that packaging remains intact, and avoiding damage.

What food products can be transported?

The necessary conditions must be provided for food products that can be affected by environmental conditions and possible spoilage must be prevented. By providing a suitable environment for transported food products, it is possible to ensure that each product is delivered to the desired point without spoilage, regardless of the distance.

What are the important considerations during the transportation of food products?

When transporting food products, extremely sensitive items are handled. Therefore, measures must be taken to increase the durability of the transported products. Adhering to specific temperature and humidity levels is crucial. Fresh food products must follow cold food transportation rules, which involve transporting at low temperatures. Various technological equipment, such as climate-controlled transport containers, dry ice, and temperature and humidity gauges, should be used. The dry ice method helps prevent chemical reactions in frozen products.

Why is temperature control important during the transportation of food products?

Temperature directly affects the level of quality deterioration, and consequently, the quality of the product. It can also lead to the growth of potentially harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and Escherichia coli, which compromises product safety. Inadequate temperature control can result in chemical reactions that alter the appearance or texture of the product. Such unwanted conditions affect the shelf life of the food product, so ensuring proper temperature control specific to each product during transportation is crucial.

What transportation methods are used for food product transportation?

Since temperature control is a critical issue in food product transportation, temperature-controlled intermodal cargo containers are often preferred for sea transport. Refrigerated containers, known as reefers, are frequently used as insulated shipping vehicles equipped with temperature monitoring and data logging devices. This allows the temperature to be adjusted to the desired level to maintain product quality. In food transportation, different methods equipped with various temperature settings can be used, such as frozen chains, cold chains, and ambient chains.
