Weight Controls in Georgia

Sanctions are applied to carriers exceeding the maximum permitted capacity of 40 tons for 5-axle trucks. Truck owners who exceed the 40 ton carriage limit will not be released by the Georgian authorities until they transfer the excess weight to another truck.

Although some exceptions are given for these limits, the permitted weight bearing limits in general will be as follows;

18 tons for Double axle trailers
24 tons for Three axle trailers
40 tons for Vehicles with 5 and 6 axles

We recommend that all transporters who do not wish to be subjected to this sanction should comply with the standards when planning their operations.
